2018 #thelittlereddressproject : Hostess Reveal

Today I’m revealing my red dress! As the host, I felt a little pressure to get my dress pictured and posted. I had planned on getting this post up last weekend but the weather was not cooperating nicely at all.

Firstly – I want to thank all the sponsors, ambassadors andparticipants. Without you, the challenge would not have been as successful. A major shout out to Minerva Crafts, who have sponsored the fabric for my dress. A little more about these fabric.

My inspiration for the this year  was worn by Jennifer Nettles at The 50thCMA in 2016 by J. Mendel .

When I saw this dress, I knew wanted to create my own version. I loved the asymmetric design of the dress and mixing of textures with lace. To be honest, I was a bit nervous because the original dress has no lining. I’m not that confident to just attach lace without a lining

 The Fabric:

Prada’s fabric is so lush and luxurious, it can be used on either side but I opted for the shiny side. Working with such a high quality fabric was such a dream to work with. The floral lace was just as great to work with, they were the perfect pairing. Because I didn’t want any negative issue with my fabric, I pre-washed to allow any shrinkage before I cut.

The Pattern: I used Simplicity 8512 and basically freehand the rest of the pattern. View D was my muse for this dress. I made a muslin to ensure the fit and not ruin my good fabric.

I never make muslin, but happy I did, this is wearable and I can enjoy a visit at the cafe with my friends in it.

The colors are so viberate in this dress, I was really happy to get out and get the pictures done. This is what I love to do, create an theme and experience with all my projects and the delivery of my makes.

If you’ve participated in this year’s challenge, join me on Instagram Dec 16th when I’ll announce the winners.

I looking forward to seeing you in 2019!
