The Southbank Sweater
I had the pleasure to pattern test for NinaLee last week and I am totally in love with this pattern. Southbank features 3 versions, a sweater, a cropped sweater and sweater dress. The dress alone boasts a banded hem, but the pattern hacker that I am, says I can add to any of the other versions.
The Southbank spells comfort with its slightly oversized feel and comfy funnel neck. A dropped shoulder for ease, this was super-fast project. I’m sure you’ll be whipping these out by the dozens 🙂
It’s designed for medium-weight knits that have about 20% stretch. They recommend Ponte Roma, Boiled Wool & Sweater fabric. Light weight jersey is ideal for version 2, if you want a softer drapier look and feel.
I made my sweater dress from Varsity Club Jacquard knit. It has 68% poly 30% Cotton, & 2% Spandex. I am not sure if this is a brand found at Joann’s only, Click here.
One great thing about this pattern is that, I didn’t have to make any alterations. Surprisingly the sleeves were the perfect length, at 5’9” tall with a long torso, I would normally have to make adjustments but not with this project.
Many more will surely be added to my winter projects because it’s a snap to sew. I can already see all the lovely colors it would look fantastic in! I would recommend without a doubt, even if you have the toaster sweater. In all honesty this is the cousin to the toaster 😉
