Hello My Lovely Sewing Friends,
I am sure by now you’ve seen all the tags on Instagram, and various vlogs. Today! I wanted to show you all my picks for this year. As you know I’m taking part in the SewMyStyle tag and felt I could kill two birds with one stone with my January Make.
I was happy to see this sweater make the cut on the SewMyStyle list. It looks so cozy and comfy, perfect for the subzero winters of Wisconsin.
Version 1. has raglan sleeves, with an over-sized waistband and loose turtleneck. I especially like the long cuffs because it’s ideal for my neck of the woods.
Version 2. has a semi-high neck, with a funnel/boat neck. I like the hi/low hem line and mitered side vents of this design.
I actually completed my first MAKE Nine Pick, this one was for the Day and Night Challenge. What The design of this dress is fun, the cool part is the various looks you can get with it. I used three very different fabric to add color, dimension and texture.
What a wow dress, not sure where I’ll wear it. But! I have to see what my skills are and it’s the perfect dress just in case the impossible pops up. This would look great in velvet because of the luscious drape. I had originally wanted to make this as the Night dress of the day and night challenge, but I didn’t have enough fabric.
This is one of the best top for spring, McCall’s has done a wonderful job with this collection. I plan to make a few in the coming months. The sleeves are amazing and it reminds me of the variation I did on my Tilly and the Button top. It features the Trumpet, Tulip, Pleated or Bubble Sleeves.
This dress is another fantastic piece that I just have to make for the warmer days. I love the simple design, something that can be made for any occasion. The subtle fit and flare dress with the cut out in the back is a major wow factor and I can definitely this one becoming a staple.
Now this is a blouse I can get used to. It looks so light and flowing, perfect for summer. Can you see this as a dress? It would make a nice beach cover.
Colette always comes out with fantastic designs, but I hardly ever sew their patterns. I’m not exactly sure why this is the case, but I will break that habit in 2017. I just purchased the Rue, and although there was a lot of chatter about the design having issues, I still love the look and style of it. Also I want to be part of the Moneta Party in February on IG.
The yellow is what pulled me in and drew my attention to this pattern, but I’ve been wanting to make a cigarette pants for a long time. I’m not that good at making pants, but after my Ginger Jeans it’s doesn’t seem scary as before.
A retro design that mesmerized me. Wow, I’ve had my eyes on this for a long time, but lacked the confidence to get it done. It features a V-neckline with front flounce and wrap/sash at the side.
These will be great additions to my wardrobe for Spring and Summer. After taking a good look at the collection, I feel it’s a nice mix of designs and shape. All that is left is a good play on fabric, color and texture for the finishing touches of my 2017 MAKE NINE.
