#BHMPATTERNDESIGNERS CHALLENGE

Nateida [@naturaldane] & Myra [@Onesewsweet] came together to create a memorable challenge for the sewing community. They really wanted to put a spotlight on black pattern designers and this is the results.

My project was Vogue V1314, trust me had nothing to do with the fact that I already had it in my collection. I was tempted to get the Nikki Blazer by Style Sew Me. I will add Nikki to my Spring /Summer wardrobe.

Tracy Reese – V1314

I’ve had this floral fabric for just over a year and have been saving it for a maxi dress. Although this isn’t the intended maxi dress, I’m thrilled with the results.

This is a quick and simple pattern that can be used to create various looks with different fabric. It’s an awesome pattern because the gathers along the side seam adds a subtle touch of romance. This detail adds visual appeal to the overall look.

Designer Tidbit

Tracy launched her label in 1998 and continues to produces a rtw and and resort wear. As of last spring, she designed a pattern collection for Vogue, I hope she’s got some design in the works.

Location was a no go

I was a bit disappointed that my dream location for this photo was covered in snow. My photo next to the Hank Aaron statue will have to wait till spring. Hank Aaron set the major league home run record of 755 HR. He began his career playing with the Eau Claire Bears in 1952 and is honored by a bronze sculpture at Carson Park.

In 1994 Hank Aaron was at the Carson Park Stadium when his statue was dedicated. This stadium dates back to 1937 when it opened to serve the Northern League Eau Claire Bears (and later on, after it became a Milwaukee farm team, the Eau Claire Braves).

Today, Carson Park Stadium hosts the amateur Eau Claire Cavaliers, American Legion ball, Little League and several high school teams.  A statue honoring Aaron sits at the entrance of the ballpark. The statue was the work of artist Ken Campbell, who died shortly after delivering the clay bust to a Utah foundry to make the monument to baseball’s greatest home-run hitter. It was quite educational to participate in this challenge, I learn about so many designers and I look forward to 2020!
