What I Wore for the 4th of July

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all having a great day. In this post you get
the opportunity to read my review of the dress I wore on the forth. You can
also visit my YouTube Channel to view the review and see the fit in action.

The Dress: This is mid-weight cotton sateen with crosswise
stretch. The design on the fabric is printed and not woven (in case this information would be
helpful to you)
. Honestly I felt like I needed a vintage dress in my life
and the forth would be the perfect setting for this, I set out to make one. But
due to the timing, I couldn’t complete such a detailed project.

The next best thing I could do was add a full or ½ circle skirt to any bodice I found to play on the vintage element. I headed straight for my BurdaStyle Magazine, personally it would seem Burda has the most fashion forward patterns available in my arsenal. I love indie patterns, because they are unique and the instructions are by far the best on the planet. It all boils down to what I have access too. Oh! how I wished I had enough time to make a Gertie Vintage Dress or a Sew Over It pattern. Sorry for the rambling.

What do you think of the neckline on this dress? It’s a beauty and fits great, the sleeve has a dart to allow a little easy of movement. I really appreciate this features due to my broad shoulders. I went ahead and lined the sleeve all because I didn’t want to see stitching on them. There are princess front seams, and back darts in the bodice which is lined as well.

The skirt of the dress has a total of 8 box pleats.

The back of the dress has a smooth, clean and deep scoop neckline. The closure is an invisible.

I am so
in love with this dress, I would make it again in a heartbeat. It will look
outstanding in a powerful color such as purple or orange. I truly hope you attempt
this dress, below you will find links to both dresses. The bodice is from 5/2014 (Click here)and The skirt is 7/2016 (will update once the pattern is available) and a marvelous combination.

Thanks for visiting and Happy Sewing!
