Pattern Review Burda 6911

Hanging on to Summer?

Yes I said it, one last summer day in Wisconsin. It’s not often to enjoy an amazing day like last Saturday! I took the opportunity to cut one last summer tee. I’ve already used this pattern a few weeks ago to create a dress, but that’s for a another post.

The Design

I’ve always wanted to try more challenging designs, yet I stay on the same ole path. Although this is not really a super challenging design, you do have to change your thinking when putting the pieces together. The 2010 Pattern of the Year at Pattern Review, Butterick 5495 has been on my list to do. Now since completing B6911, the confidence level is high, and I even have moves like Jagger!

Once you cross that hurdle of step 7, the light begins to shine at the end of the tunnel. Trust me it will come, and light up like a bulb when you figure it out. Feeling like superwomen I’m ready for more, since training is behind me for the season. It’s time to focus my energy on sewing and I couldn’t be happier.

The Review

Pattern Description: Sophisticated, entwined front parts give both the shirt and the dress a special look. The bi-elastic jersey provides shape retention and a perfect fit. The dress has got a flared skirt with nicely draped panels

Pattern Sizing: 34-44 (My dress was cut at 36)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes with the exception of step 7-7a

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The most difficult part of the top was the front twist and this was the reason I got the pattern.

Fabric Used: Cotton Jersey

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes (I also made a dress and will post a follow up review).

Conclusion: I love this pattern and now that I have the twist step conquered, can’t wait to add different versions to my wardrobe. It’s a quick sew, you should try it.

Thanks for visiting

Happy Sewing

I am at Step 7 of the dress. Am I supposed to pull the entire left side of the dress through the slit?

Hi Ellen, Sorry about the late response. Yes, you have to pull through. It’s a bit confusing, but you’ll get it. It took me a few attempt before success.
