Splatters & Waves Dress
I don’t usually buy BurdaStyle patterns because I subscribe to the magazine. However, I was itching to sew something quick today to satisfy my selfish inner need :). Also I was really lazy and didn’t want to draft and cut the BurdaStyle magazine tee I wanted to make. Plus I was short on Swedish tracing paper. So, I decided to drive all the 4.86 miles to Joann’s and buy a $2.49 pattern.
I found pattern 6910, it was just what I was looking for. Something I could make in under 2 hours, minus the time to cut the pattern out. It may look like a simple design but the raglan sleeves gives you the option to mix up your design and this I like very much.
Feminine, gathered and figure-hugging silhouettes. Shirt and dress made of bi-elastic jersey. The flat neck and raglan sleeves emphasize the young style both of the shirt and the dress.
This pattern come in US 8-20 & EUR 34-46. My pattern was cut in a size 36
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did, I felt like I needed to stretch my elastic a little bit more.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes – I was satisfied with the instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really love the gathering on this pattern.
I used a really nice jersey fabric and the black lace, if I could call it that was a purchase I made over 12 months ago.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Would you sew it again and/or recommend it to others?
Yes I definitely would make again and recommend to others. It would be great for those that are looking for something they can make fast.
I felt I could have done a better job with the neckband. I really like it when the band lays flat along your shoulder and collarbone. I see a pucker in mine, but it’s not too terrible. Also, with the cold weather setting in, I can see this being made in a variety of different sweater knits.
Yes I am wearing socks with those booties – but I hate to wear shoes with just my bare feet! Yuck! It’s getting cooler in Wisconsin by the way.
Thanks for visiting,
Happy Running & Sewing.
